I was asked to make a centre piece for a boys birthday party. He is having a Star Wars themed party. Apparently, he is crazy about Star Wars. So I came up with this Yoda. He is based on the Lootle that I posted previously and photos from BalloonHq.com When the father and his kids came to pick it up their face's light up. I think that they were very pleased.

Something's Fishy
My church had a fish dinner as a fund raiser. So they asked me to make some fishy themed table decorations. Here is what I came up with. I got the idea from my friend Dixie. Dixie has only been working with balloons for about a year but she is a really fast learner. She does wonderful work.
My daughter Sarah helped me make these centre pieces. You can see more at her blog here.
Sarah has been helping me and learning balloon sculpture for about 7 years. She is getting quite good and has a lot of imagination. Look at the cute face she put on the turtle.
We received a lot of compliments for our work.

Lootles
A few years ago I learned to make "Lootles". They were created by Robbie Furman from "Balloons by Robbie".
Lootles are highly customizable and I love them.
Here are a few examples of Lootles that I have made:

Rally Sunday
Today was "Rally Sunday" at our church, to welcome everyone back from summer vacation. It is also the beginning of Sunday School for the fall session. So I made a couple "Lootles" to help welcome all the children back. Here they are with Rev. Kathi Phillips.

So long Janice
Today was Janice's last day at work for a while. As you can see, she is going on maternity leave for a while. She due in 3 weeks. So I made her a balloon creation to wish her all the best. I got some help from pictures on Balloonhq.
She was so excited that I would give her a balloon stork. That's what I really love about doing balloons. Seeing the smile on someone's face when I unexpectedly give them one of my creations.

I'm back
Wow!! Time fly's when you are not paying attention.
I'm going to try to update this blog a little more often. My daughter, the graphic designer, has returned home from a year in England. She got my blog started and designed the header. She has also shown me how to edit pictures and add them.
In May, I traveled to Europe with my wife and a little red dog. We spent a week in Paris. Then we rented a car and drove to the Canadian War Memorial at Vimy ridge. Then to Germany, Switzerland and back to Paris.
The little red dog - petite chien rouge - enjoyed some of the sites of Paris:
Eiffel Tower |
Notre Dame Cathedral |
Bookenista along the Seine |
Rodin's "The Thinker" |
Jim Morrison's Grave |

Knitted balloon animals
This is pretty cool!! These are patterns to knit a long tube that you then twist into a balloon like animal. I can't knit, but I thought that this might be interesting to anyone who does knit.

A Star is Born .... sort of!!!
Welcome to my blog!!!
I'm a children's entertainer in Newmarket, Ontario, Canada. Newmarket is about 30 km north of Toronto.
In 1987, I was looking for a woodworking course at night school and stumbled upon a course called "Clowning and the Art of Balloon Sculpture" It ran for 4 Saturday mornings and was a reasonable price. It sounded intriguing so I signed up. The course was taught by Bill Linge aka "Syncro the Clown". He taught us clown make-up, costuming, basic balloon sculptures, general clown arts and more.
The former members of this course had formed "Toronto Clown Alley". I joined TCA to further my clown skills. I met Tom Kerr - a clown, magician and magic dealer. Tom taught me some basic magic tricks and sold me some props to get started.
And I was off!!!!
This blog will tell you a little about my journey as a clown and balloon entertainer.
Hope you come back and visit again.
